Viral Khulna Video Misleadingly Shared

A video circulating on social media has falsely claimed that a child rape accused was taken off a police vehicle and shot dead while being transported to court in Khulna. The same claim was also published by several online portals, including Bahann News and Sobar Desh.

However, the claim that a rape accused and another individual were recently killed in a shooting by miscreants in Khulna is false. The video being used as evidence actually dates back to November 30, 2025. On that day, two people were shot dead by assailants outside the main gate of the Khulna Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court. The viral footage is from that earlier incident.

Regarding the authenticity of the video, PIB’s fact-checking platform BanglaFact verified that the same footage was posted on November 30, 2025, by a Facebook page named “Shihab Uddin.” According to the caption accompanying the video, two people were openly shot dead with firearms inside the Khulna court premises on that day.

A Google search of the incident leads to a report published by Prothom Alo on November 30, 2025. The report states that two individuals were killed by miscreants outside the main gate of the Khulna Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court. The deceased were identified as Md. Fazle Rabbi (Rajan) and Hasib Hawlader. Police said both had multiple cases filed against them.

Several other media outlets also published reports on the same incident that day. However, none of those reports mentioned any rape-related allegation involving the victims.

Moreover, searches regarding claims that a rape accused and another person were killed by miscreants in Khulna did not produce any credible media reports supporting such information.

Therefore, the claim that a rape accused and another individual were killed in a recent shooting incident in Khulna is false, and the video being circulated on social media in support of the claim is actually from last year.
