Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) will honor a total of 27 outstanding reports this year under its annual Nagad-DRU Best Reporting Award 2025. The awards will recognize excellence across 25 thematic categories — divided into online-print and television-radio segments — along with two special open-for-all categories covering all media types.

The announcement was made jointly at a press conference held on Wednesday, October 8, at DRU’s Shafiqul Kabir Auditorium. The mobile financial service provider Nagad is sponsoring this year’s awards. Submission of reports opens today and will continue until October 17.

Organizers informed that DRU members can submit reports published or broadcast between September 1, 2024, and September 30, 2025, for nomination.

The press event was attended by DRU President Abu Saleh Akon, General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel, Nagad’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Saimon Imran Hayder, Head of Media and Communications Muhammad Zahidul Islam, along with other DRU leaders and members.

DRU President Abu Saleh Akon stated, “Honoring reporters for the year’s best reporting is in fact a positive step toward advancing journalism in the country. Since its inception, Dhaka Reporters Unity has carried this responsibility, which has had a significant impact on the standard of journalism.”

General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel added, “This year, DRU’s partner is the mobile financial service Nagad under the Bangladesh Post Office. Through various innovations, this local service has rapidly made a strong mark in the country’s digital transaction landscape.”

He further said that the award ceremony will be held within a month in a grand event where the winners will receive their honors and prizes. The venue and additional details will be announced later through an official DRU press release.

Nagad’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Saimon Imran Hayder commented, “Nagad believes that journalists have the power to bring about the most positive change through their work. That is why we continue to support such initiatives — to encourage better reporting about Nagad and beyond. As a homegrown company, we see it as our responsibility to stand by the journalism community.”
