Delivery Tiger, a leading e-commerce delivery management company of Bangladesh, has been given the right to collect and distribute e-commerce product delivery as well as the product delivery money across the country from the 'Courier Licensing Authority' under the Department of Posts and Telecommunications. Recently, the chairman of the 'Mailing Operator and Courier Licensing Authority' Dr. Mohammad Mohiuddin officially handed over the license to Fahim Mashroor, the Managing Director of Delivery Tiger at the post offic. Fahim Mashroor, managing director of ‘Delivery Tiger’ and founder of leading online marketplace ‘Aajker Deal’, said that the postal department can play a significant role in expanding e-commerce in the country. In last two years, the reason behind the fraud and other mishaps was the lack of proper enforcement of the law. Recently, the Ministry of Commerce has brought e-commerce companies under registration which will help in bringing discipline, he hoped. It can be mentioned that online e-commerce business has expanded a lot in the country. At the same time, the number of complaints of not getting the desired products has also been increased. The government, in the mean time, has taken action against a number of e-commerce companies as well as a number of courier companies regarding anomalies in delivering goods. The cash collected from the customer was not credited to the seller in time. Courier companies collected cash from customers after delivery of goods but they did not deposit the money to the seller properly and timely. Besides, there are cases of theft or damage of the products which causes loss to both the seller and the buyer concerned. It can be noted that, in more than 80% cases, the courier companies collect money from the customers after the delivery was made. To bring transparency and accountability in e-commerce delivery and money collection process, the government agencies like 'Courier Licensing Authority', Ministry of Commerce and other agencies including Bangladesh Bank are working relentlessly. As a part of that, it has been made illegal and prohibited to deliver online products or collecting money from customers without a license issued by the Postal department.
