‘Breaking ties with China is impossible’: Mercedes-Benz
Ola Kallenius, CEO of luxury car company Mercedes-Benz, commented that cutting economic ties with China would be impossible for German factories. He said that China is the second largest economy in the world and it would be impossible for German factories to cut ties with them. Any such move would threaten other German industries.
Meanwhile, European countries are trying to reduce their dependence on China. Due to the war in Ukraine and the corona pandemic, many western countries cannot trust Chinese products.
But German car company Mercedes Benz says the opposite. The head of the organization, Ola Kallenius, has made it clear, 'The United States, Europe and China are closely related to the world economy. So there is no point in ruining relations with China.'
German factories are largely dependent on China for car production and sales. Mercedes-Benz, the world's largest car manufacturing company, is no exception.
In 2022 alone, China accounted for 18 percent of Mercedes' revenue and nearly 37 percent of vehicle sales. Kallenius is hopeful that this number will increase in the future.
The German government has been providing military support to Kiev since the start of the war in Ukraine. Relations hit rock bottom as Berlin sided against Moscow in the war.
