On Wednesday, BSCL Broadcast, Media and Promotion Manager Md. Shafiul Azam said that earlier several foreign companies have provided this service in Bangladesh. Presently, by starting this service through BSCL, the outflow of foreign currency abroad will stop and the country will become self-sufficient. Green TV is BSCL's first customer to adopt this service on a commercial basis. It is hoped that following the example of Green TV, all the TV channels, advertising agencies and interested advertisers in the country will start adopting this new service of BSCL on a commercial basis

According to the press release sent by him, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has approved Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) to implement a modern Television Rating Point (TRP) system for the TV media industry of Bangladesh to ensure discipline and accountability in the TV media advertising sector of the country. In view of this, BSCL took various steps to establish TRP system. As a result, it has become possible to set up an own TRP system using fully homegrown technology. TRP devices have been installed across the country as per plan for collecting TRP data. At present, activities are being conducted by installing 500 TRP devices.
It is also said that BSCL has given the opportunity to use the TRP platform on an experimental basis to television channels and advertising agencies of the country. After a long period of testing, the platform is now capable of providing on-demand services.
Based on the information obtained from the TRP platform, it is known how popular a TV channel or a program of a TV channel is. Moreover, when advertising a product or service by showing it to the target customers, the possibility of selling the product or service can be determined. There is no substitute for TRP system information to increase the sales potential of a product or service at a relatively low cost through proper media planning. As a result, TV channels will become more interested in producing quality programs.
