Volkswagen Ventures: Visionary EV Unveiled

Ahead of the International Motor Show in Munich, Volkswagen on Sunday unveiled its new compact electric SUV concept, the ID.CROSS, according to Reuters.
The European automotive giant stated that the model is expected to hit the market in the summer of 2026, with a price range of approximately 28,000 to 30,000 euros (around 32,800 to 35,100 USD), making electric vehicles more accessible to buyers with comparatively lower incomes.
Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume acknowledged the challenges facing the company, citing declining demand in Europe, price competition in China, and U.S. tariff policies. “Despite these obstacles, we are not halting production of new models,” he said.
The company also plans to release several other affordable electric vehicles, including the ID.Polo hatchback starting at 25,000 euros, as well as models from the Spanish brand Cupra’s Raval and Škoda’s Epic SUV.
Amid rising competition, Volkswagen is implementing cost-cutting measures in its European factories, including capacity reductions and plans to cut more than 35,000 jobs.
