OpenAI and Microsoft Mull Partnership Restructuring Ahead of Possible IPO

OpenAI and Microsoft are reportedly engaged in high-level discussions to restructure their multibillion-dollar partnership, according to a Financial Times report cited by Reuters. The objective of the talks is to pave the way for a future initial public offering (IPO) of OpenAI, while ensuring Microsoft's continued access to cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies.
The report states that Microsoft has already invested over $13 billion in OpenAI and is considering giving up some of its shares in exchange for access to post-2030 AI technologies.
Additionally, the original terms of the 2019 agreement between the two companies are being revised. As part of the restructuring, OpenAI has informed investors that a small portion of its revenue will be allocated to Microsoft.
Neither company has made an immediate comment regarding the development.
