OTT Originals Offer Variety: ‘Fyakra’, ‘Ajob Karkhana’, and ‘Gulmohar’ Hit the Screens

Popular OTT platforms in Bangladesh are currently showcasing a mix of original content. The thriller web series Fyakra, directed by Asif Chowdhury, is now streaming on Bongo; Shabnam Ferdousi’s folk music-inspired film Ajob Karkhana is available on iScreen; and later this week, Gulmohar, a Chorki Original, will be released.

Streaming on Bongo since May 8, Fyakra stars Shyamal Mawla, Mir Rabbi, Nishat Priyam, Partha Sheikh, Sarah Alam, and Nidra De Neha, among others. The storyline follows Samad, who needs a large sum of money to win over his lover Golapi. With help from friends, he plots a robbery. However, a woman is accidentally killed during the heist. Chaos ensues as her husband seeks revenge and the police begin their search. The criminals, trying to escape, fall deeper into trouble with each step.

Meanwhile, Ajob Karkhana, directed by Shabnam Ferdousi, was originally released in cinemas on July 12 last year and began streaming on iScreen from May 8. The film stars Parambrata Chatterjee, Dilruba Doel, Shabnaz Sadia Emi, and Khalid Hasan.

The narrative revolves around Rajib, a rock star adored by youth across the country. Despite his fame, he spends his days drinking and his time with a girlfriend, distancing himself from his family. A television channel offers him the chance to host a folk music show. Initially hesitant, Rajib is persuaded by the producer. While traveling across rural Bangladesh to meet Baul singers, he discovers new meaning in life and eventually leaves rock music for folk traditions.

On the other hand, the official Facebook page of Chorki is actively releasing teasers of Gulmohar, a Chorki Original directed by Syed Ahmed Shawki, set to premiere later this week.
