JUST Hosts 15th National Science Olympiad 2026
The 15th National Science Olympiad 2026 was held at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) amid a festive atmosphere marked by a colorful rally, rendition of the national anthem, hoisting of the national flag, and balloon releases.
Organized under the patronage of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, with overall support from the Faculty of Science at JUST, the Olympiad was formally inaugurated by JUST Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun in front of the university’s Central Shaheed Minar.
The examination and closing ceremony of the Olympiad took place on Thursday, January 3, at the Professor Mohammad Sharif Hossain Gallery of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Academic Building on the JUST campus. Students from various schools and colleges of Jashore participated in the competition. Certificates and prizes were awarded to the winners at the closing ceremony.
Addressing the event as a special guest, Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun congratulated all organizers and participating students, saying initiatives like the Science Olympiad play a vital role in nurturing young talent. He expressed optimism that similar science-oriented competitions would continue to be hosted at the university in the future.
The event was chaired by Dr. Md. Qurban Ali, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Convener of the Jashore regional committee of the 15th National Science Olympiad 2026. Among others present were Professor Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Science and Technology; Professor Dr. Shirin Nigar, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology; Dr. Md. Masum Billah, Chairman of the Department of Physics; and Professor Dr. Md. Hafiz Uddin, Chairman of the Department of Mathematics, along with faculty members and teachers and students from different schools and colleges.
The program was conducted by university students Md. Asif Karim Alvi and Monika Sarkar.
