Gaziapur Digital University Day 2025 Celebrated
The ninth Gaziapur Digital University Day 2025 was celebrated on Saturday, July 26, with a day-long series of vibrant events. The festivities commenced at 9:30 a.m. in the university’s academic courtyard, where the national flag and the university flag were hoisted, followed by the national anthem, cake-cutting, and balloon release. The day was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Gaziapur Digital University, Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf.
The ceremony was attended by Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Registrar Muhammad Ataur Rahman Khan, Kaliakoir Upazila Executive Officer Kawsar Ahmed, along with faculty members, students, officers, and staff from various faculties.
Prizes were awarded for the July Memorial Inter-Departmental Cricket Tournaments and other sports competitions held on the occasion. Additionally, 28 students from different faculties received Dean’s Honorary Scholarships, and six teachers were presented with the Research Publications Award 2025 by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf.
Following the inauguration, a colorful procession led by the Vice-Chancellor set off from the academic building, circled the main road of Kaliakoir Upazila, and returned to the academic building. At 10:30 a.m., a cake-cutting ceremony took place in front of the academic building. Subsequently, at 11 a.m., a discussion session was held under the chairmanship of Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf, was the chief guest, and the welcome speech was delivered by Registrar Muhammad Ataur Rahman Khan.
The discussion featured speeches by students Moniruzzaman Himel from the Department of Internet of Things and Robotics Engineering, Fatema Tuz Johra Mim from the Department of Educational Technology and Engineering, Assistant Registrar M. Mostafizur Rahman, Chairman and Assistant Professor Rakib Hossain of the Department of Cyber Security Engineering, and Chairman and Assistant Professor Suman Saha of the Department of Internet of Things and Robotics Engineering.
In his speech, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf emphasized, “We must focus on hands-on learning. In this era of advanced technology, a job cannot be secured by GPA alone. Through industry-academia collaboration, what practical skills a student has acquired will be the key criterion for recruitment.”
He further added, “I envision Gaziapur Digital University leading Bangladesh in research one day. Our teachers and students are tirelessly working towards that goal.” The Vice-Chancellor expressed his sincere gratitude to all involved in organizing such a successful event like the University Day celebration.
Md. Ashrafuzzaman, convener of the Ninth Gaziapur Digital University Day Celebration Committee and acting Director of Research and Extension, thanked the university authorities for recognizing faculty research with honors. He also expressed appreciation to all who contributed to the event’s success.
In his concluding remarks, Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain said, “Gaziapur Digital University is reaching new heights day by day. Our aim is to educate students with contemporary, practical, and innovative knowledge. This university prepares students not only academically but also for real life. Today’s success is the result of the collective efforts of teachers, students, officers, and staff. We aspire to move forward on an even larger scale.”
After the midday lunch, a cultural program was held at 5 p.m. in the academic courtyard. Students and bands from various departments performed, creating a lively atmosphere attended by students, teachers, officers, and staff. The campus was abuzz with festive spirit throughout the day in honor of the occasion.
