Professor Amir Hossain Appointed VC of Jamalpur Science and Technology University

Just 23 days after the appointment of the previous vice-chancellor, the government has appointed Dr. Md. Amir Hossain as the new Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Jamalpur Science and Technology University, replacing Dr. Mohammad Amir Hossain Bhuiyan, who has been relieved of his duties.

The information was disclosed through separate notifications issued on Saturday, June 6, by the Science and Technology University Branch of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education.

According to the ministry’s notification, Dr. Md. Amir Hossain, a professor in the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding at Bangladesh Agricultural University, has been appointed Vice-Chancellor for a term of four years from the date of joining. However, if his retirement date arrives before the completion of the four-year term, his tenure will end on that date.

Under the appointment, he will receive salary and allowances equivalent to those of his current position and will be entitled to other benefits associated with the office in accordance with existing regulations.

The notification further states that, as the chief executive officer of the university, he must remain present on the university campus on a full-time basis. It also notes that the appointment may be revoked at any time if deemed necessary by the Honorable President of Bangladesh, who serves as the Chancellor of the university.

Earlier, in a separate notification, the Ministry of Education relieved Dr. Mohammad Amir Hossain Bhuiyan of his responsibilities as Vice-Chancellor of Jamalpur Science and Technology University.

The ministry stated that, in accordance with the conditions outlined in the notification issued on May 14 by the Secondary and Higher Education Division, Dr. Mohammad Amir Hossain Bhuiyan has been released from the position of Vice-Chancellor and granted permission to return to his substantive post at Jahangirnagar University.
