ROG Readies World’s First 5K Dual-Mode Gaming Monitor
ASUS gaming hardware sub-brand ROG has claimed it will be the first to bring a 5K dual-mode gaming monitor to the market. The upcoming monitor, named ROG Strix XG27JCG, will allow users to switch between two different resolutions and refresh rates within a single device.
The monitor will support 5K resolution (5,120 × 2,880) with a maximum 180Hz refresh rate, making it suitable for graphics-intensive AAA titles. For competitive esports gamers, it also offers a dual-mode option that enables QHD resolution with an ultra-fast 330Hz refresh rate, ensuring rapid response and smoother gameplay.
The display does not use an OLED panel; instead, it features an IPS panel. It also comes with DisplayHDR 600 support and Dynamic Shadow Boost technology, which enhances visibility in darker scenes by revealing more detail.
With CES approaching, industry observers expect other manufacturers to announce similar 5K dual-mode gaming monitors in the near future.
