UFTB Hosts Hands-on Workshop on Rubric-Based Review

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University of Frontier Technology, Bangladesh (UFTB), organized a hands-on training workshop titled "Hands-on Training Session on Rubric Based Evaluation and Outcome Analysis" on Saturday, 15 November, in Room 1201 of the university’s Administrative Building.

The programme was graced by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf as the chief guest. Treasurer Dr. Md. Anowar Hossain attended as the special guest, while the session was presided over by IQAC Director Suman Saha.

Professor Dr. Mohammad Golam Kibria, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, and Professor Dr. Kamruddin Noor of the Department of Computer Science, American International University-Bangladesh, served as the key discussants and resource persons. Faculty members from various faculties and departments of the university participated in the workshop.

Participants gained practical skills essential for implementing Rubric Based Evaluation and Outcome Analysis, as well as Outcome Based Education (OBE). They also received hands-on experience in using rubrics to assess student performance, understanding the steps of outcome-based assessment, and applying strategies to improve the quality of education.

In his remarks as chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf stated that rubric-based assessment is “a highly effective and reliable method for ensuring Outcome Based Education in modern higher education.” He added that if faculty members can apply rubric-based evaluation with proficiency, assessments of students’ learning progress and performance will become “more precise, transparent, and quality-driven.” The Vice-Chancellor expressed optimism that such training programmes would further accelerate the university’s overall advancement in educational quality.
