Fatikchhari Facebook Frenzy: Awami Activist Arrested for Threatening National Leaders

An Awami League activist has been arrested in Fatikchhari, Chattogram, for threatening to kill key national figures during a Facebook Live broadcast while wielding a blood-stained knife.
The individual, identified as Md. Alamgir Hossain (48), was detained on Saturday, June 28, during a police operation in the Jafotnagar area of the upazila. Alamgir is a resident of Ward No. 7 under Jafotnagar Union.
In a video that quickly went viral on social media, Alamgir was seen brandishing a knife smeared with what appeared to be blood and issuing death threats to the Chief Adviser of the interim government, the Chief Justice, and the Chief of Army Staff. He also hurled profanities during the broadcast, sparking widespread outrage among netizens. Many demanded his immediate arrest.
Confirming the arrest, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fatikchhari Police Station, Nur Ahmed, said, “Alamgir was taken into custody after a video surfaced where he was seen threatening to kill key figures of the state while holding a bloodied knife.”
The police official added that the suspect has been sent to court in connection with a separate explosives case filed with Fatikchhari Police Station.
