Trump Denounces Tesla Protests as 'Domestic Terrorism,' Pledges Strict Punishment

United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday declared the violence against Tesla as "domestic terrorism" and warned of severe punishment for the perpetrators. On the same day, Trump appeared at the White House alongside Tesla CEO Elon Musk and announced plans to purchase a Tesla for his staff. Following this announcement, Tesla's share price surged by 4%, according to Reuters.
Recently, protestors under the banner "Tesla Takedown" have been demonstrating against the company in various locations. They are opposing layoffs of government employees and the cancellation of humanitarian aid funds, reportedly carried out under the Trump administration’s directives and led by Musk. Musk currently serves as the head of the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
“They are harming a great American company. Those who commit violence against Tesla will face severe punishment,” said Trump. A White House spokesperson added that such attacks by left-wing activists constitute nothing less than "domestic terrorism."
Meanwhile, protestors released a statement on the social media platform Bluesky, asserting that their movement is peaceful and that they stand against violence.
The decline in Tesla’s stock value has been attributed to decreased sales, Musk’s political affiliations, and investor concerns. However, at the White House, Musk announced, "As a symbol of confidence in America, Tesla's production will be doubled over the next two years."
