MRP on IT products of single distributors to start from May 15

One year after the process and preparatory meeting on 'MRP policy 2018' on computers and computer parts in the country, Bangladesh Computer Samity- BCS held a hybrid meeting on MRP implementation. It was decided in the meeting that the seller cannot sell the product at a price higher than the price shown on the MRP. However, technology products can be discounted at fairs or exhibitions. At the same time, this discount will not be limited only to the fair premises.

Member Secretary of MRP and Online Policy Standing Committee and Vice President of BCS Md. Rashed Ali Bhuiyan conducted the meeting from BCS Innovation Center on Sunday (May 7).

According to sources in the meeting, the suppliers will start releasing technology products with MRP stickers in the market by May 15. Based on the dollar price balance, stickers will be applied first to single-distributed products and later to dual-distributed products. MRP price will be displayed online along with adding MRP sticker on the technology product. However, before that, this committee will meet with the product managers of the distributors this week and then with the distributors on May 10.

BCS President Engineer Subrata Sarkar presided over the meeting online. He said that the discount that will be in the fair, will be available in any store in the country for that product. It will protect consumer rights.

BCS Secretary General Kamruzzaman Bhuiyan, Treasurer Muhammad Nazrul Islam Helali, Muhammad Monirul Islam and Mosharraf Hossain Sumon committee members expressed their opinion in the meeting.

Also, BCS Director Mohammad Zahirul Islam, Global Brand Founder Chairman Abdul Fattah, Smart Technologies Channel Sales Director Mujahid Al Beruni Sujan and others spoke online.
