Pininfarina-inspired smartphone is coming
Infinix Brings Italian Design to NOTE 60
- Infinix is preparing a new NOTE 60 Series phone with Pininfarina
- A unified glass panel integrates cameras, an Active-Matrix display and rear lighting
- Four automotive-inspired colours and a separate special edition are planned
Automotive design heritage enters the smartphone market
Owning a Ferrari may remain an aspiration for many, but elements of the design heritage associated with iconic Italian sports cars are finding their way into smartphones. Infinix is preparing a new addition to its NOTE 60 Series through a collaboration with Pininfarina, the renowned Italian design house known for its work with Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and other luxury automakers.
In a press announcement issued in Dhaka on October 19, 2026, Infinix said the upcoming device draws inspiration from the sculpted bodywork of performance sports cars. The design focuses on a unified rear surface, automotive-inspired lighting, distinctive colour options and details intended to carry the Italian influence beyond the phone's exterior.
Cameras, display and lighting beneath one glass panel
One of the device's defining features is its Uni-Chassis camera module. The design integrates the cameras, an Active-Matrix display and rear lighting beneath a single glass panel, creating a seamless appearance across the back of the phone.
Beneath the Pininfarina logo, a light inspired by supercar taillights illuminates during startup and when notifications arrive. The feature introduces an automotive lighting element into the smartphone's design, giving users a visual cue beyond the conventional screen-based notification system.
Infinix has not yet disclosed the device's complete technical specifications, including its processor, camera capabilities, battery capacity, price or a specific market-release date.
Four colours inspired by Italy
The Italian design influence also extends to the phone's colour palette. Infinix has outlined four options, each drawing inspiration from a different Italian location or design reference.
- Monza Red: Inspired by the famous Monza racing circuit.
- Torino Black: Named after Turin, the home city associated with Pininfarina.
- Amalfi Blue: Inspired by Italy's coastal landscape.
- Roma Silver: Reflecting the architectural character of the Italian capital.
The exterior design also includes a matte aluminium alloy frame, rounded edges, a racing-inspired interface and exclusive wallpapers. Together, these elements extend the automotive theme into both the physical construction and the software experience.
A separate special edition is also in preparation
Alongside the upcoming NOTE 60 Series device, Infinix is preparing a special edition of a previously launched smartphone. The edition is expected to feature a Kevlar-pattern finish, racing-inspired software, an exclusive Pininfarina watermark and co-branded accessories.
Kevlar is a high-strength synthetic fibre used in a range of industrial applications. However, Infinix's announcement describes a Kevlar-pattern finish; it does not confirm that the phone's exterior will use actual Kevlar material.
The company has not yet disclosed the model name or the full specifications of this special edition.
Design becomes a smartphone differentiator
Smartphone manufacturers have traditionally competed on processing power, cameras, battery life and display technology. Increasingly, exterior design, distinctive finishes and brand partnerships also help products stand out in a crowded market.
Collaborations with established automotive design houses offer manufacturers a way to translate recognisable design cues into consumer electronics. Special colourways, integrated lighting and customised software can create a distinctive product identity, although their appeal will ultimately depend on pricing, performance and practical everyday use.
With its latest NOTE 60 Series addition, Infinix is positioning Pininfarina's Italian design heritage as a central part of the smartphone experience. The device's full specifications, pricing and availability have yet to be announced, so its overall value to consumers remains to be assessed.
