Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUKSU) has launched a live tracking system named 'iTracker' to end the long-standing sufferings and waiting for buses of the students in the transportation system of Jahangirnagar University (JU). Following this initiative taken under the slogan 'Smart Transport, Smart Campus', the real-time location of the university buses can now be tracked through a mobile application.

On July 19, Sunday, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammed Kamrul Ahsan formally inaugurated this tracking system as the chief guest at a colorful ceremony organized at the Central Field of the university.

In his inaugural address, the Vice-Chancellor said, "The proper use of technology makes human life easier, safer, and more effective. The launch of this tracking system will save everyone's time and significantly improve the quality of transport services."

The Vice-Chancellor further mentioned, "This system will ensure transparency and accountability in the transport sector. This technology will play an important role in stopping vehicular movement outside fixed routes, preventing fuel wastage, and conducting quick rescue operations in emergencies."

However, he emphasized the continuity and sustainable maintenance of this service. JUKSU VP Abdur Rashid Jitu said, "JUKSU has been working to make the campus modern and student-friendly ever since it assumed responsibility. Following electric carts and auto-rickshaws, the live tracking system has been launched today. I urge the university administration to take responsibility for regular maintenance so that this technological service remains successful in the future."

Among others, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Md. Shamsul Alam, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Muhammad Nazrul Islam, the acting director of the transport office, JUKSU leaders, and representatives of Ifad Group were also present at the event.
