Thirty Bangladeshi corporate professionals have received hands-on training on Kaizen—Japan’s renowned business philosophy focused on achieving significant results through small and continuous improvements. The training session on Kaizen was conducted by Mr. Masudur Rahman. The session on 5S was led by Mr. Okabayashi Kuniyaki. At the end of the day, a session on “Isso Ichimoku,” meaning “One Step, One Look,” was conducted by Mrs. Tomoko Yasuda, Ms. Sayaka Ozawa, and Ms. Nishimura Nanako.

According to a press release issued on Saturday, 15 November, the workshop titled “Productivity and Quality Enhancement: Emphasis on World Quality Week” was recently held at the JTI factory located in Tongi, Dhaka.

Participants gained practical insight into how Kaizen and 5S principles can be applied effectively in daily operations. By visiting various departments of the factory, they observed how organized processes, standard practices, and a culture of continuous improvement enhance productivity and operational efficiency in an organization.

The workshop was jointly organized by QA Harbor Limited and Kazuko Bhuiya Trust. SubscriptionPro, KornQ, XOR Geek, and Nymph Solutions served as co-organizers.

Sharing his experience, Brigadier General M. Mofizur Rahman (Retd.), CEO of R&G Consulting, former Executive Chairman of BEPZA, and former lecturer at BRAC University, stated:
“Kaizen, 5S, and Isso Ichimoku—getting reintroduced to these three philosophies was an exceptional experience. They are extremely important for any organization aiming for continuous improvement. Observing their practical implementation at the JTI factory has further strengthened confidence in Bangladesh’s ability to adopt world-class management systems.”

Samima Binte Shams, Director of Shams Engineering, reflected on the workshop saying:
“If Kaizen and 5S can be applied in day-to-day activities, an organization becomes more structured and sustainable. This workshop, especially the factory visit, has helped us develop a mindset that I believe will bring real improvements in our organization in the future.”
