BASIS Breathes New Life into IT Initiatives with SICIP
The Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) had seen nearly all of its activities stall due to the absence of a management committee for several months. Recently, following the appointment of Abul Khayer Mohammad Hafizullah Khan, Joint Secretary of the Local Government Division, as BASIS Administrator, the organization has resumed its operations with renewed vigor.
In line with this, on Tuesday, August 28, a key meeting was held to revitalize the activities of BASIS’s affiliated institution, the Bangladesh Institute of Technology and Management (BITM), in collaboration with the SICIP project under the Finance Division.
The meeting, held at the SICIP office in Eskaton, focused on the current progress of the project and its future work plan. The discussions were highly productive, and it was decided that BASIS will soon relaunch the SICIP project at a new level.
Attendees at the meeting included Abul Khayer Mohammad Hafizullah Khan, Joint Secretary of the Local Government Division and BASIS Administrator, Md. Manzur Alam, Joint Secretary of DEPD (Program Management), and Md. Afzal Hossain, Deputy Secretary of EEPD (Program Management).
Speaking at the meeting, the BASIS Administrator said, “The information technology sector plays a crucial role in the country’s progress. BASIS, as the central organization of the IT industry in Bangladesh, works to advance this growth. We believe that through joint efforts, BASIS’s stalled activities will move forward with new momentum and further strengthen the country’s ICT sector.”
