Science is not merely a matter of laboratories but a force for social transformation and a path to human welfare, said Education Adviser Professor Dr. C. R. Abrar. “The current global competition is a contest of knowledge and technology. Bangladesh has already made commendable progress by adopting science-based policies in sectors like agriculture, health, information technology, renewable energy, and climate adaptation. We must remember, science is not confined to laboratories—it is the strength that transforms society and advances humanity,” he remarked.

He made these observations on Saturday, October 25, while addressing as the chief guest at the ‘Professor Emeritus Dr. Sultan Ahmed Chowdhury Talent Nurture Fund Scholarship’ award ceremony held at the National Science and Technology Complex in Agargaon, Dhaka.

The education adviser further said that the Government of Bangladesh is working to implement a science- and innovation-driven development strategy. “To that end, it is essential to encourage young researchers to engage in scientific thinking and innovation. Scholarships like this play a crucial role. This is not just a reward—it is an investment in a generation that will lead the Bangladesh of tomorrow. You are not symbols of individual success; you are the symbols of Bangladesh’s scientific future,” he added.

Professor Emeritus Dr. Sultan Ahmed Chowdhury Foundation Chairperson Zakia Rouf Chowdhury attended the event as a special guest, while the session was presided over by Bangladesh Academy of Sciences President Dr. Zohurul Karim.

At the ceremony, scholarships and certificates were awarded to 200 selected science students. In the closing session, Dr. C. R. Abrar handed over certificates and honors to the scholarship recipients.
