DACSU Dispute: Footage Fiasco Alleged
General Secretary (GS) candidate S M Forhad has alleged that CCTV footage related to the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DACSU) election has been deliberately made to disappear.
On September 9, Tuesday, he made the allegation in a post on his verified Facebook page.
Citing an earlier post by independent candidate Anika Tahsin Hafsa, Forhad wrote that despite repeatedly requesting the CCTV footage and calling for action against those involved from the outset, his demands went unanswered. “Rather, as their staged drama failed, they erased the CCTV footage with the help of partisan teachers and officials,” he alleged.
In her own post, Hafsa stated, “Regarding the rumor that ballots were pre-marked in favor of Sadiq Kayem and Forhad bhai—you should know that I recognize you. When you were voting at Table 1, shortly afterward I was voting at Table 3. You walked past me and then started spreading this propaganda.”
She further remarked, “For a moment, even I was stunned, wondering whether it was true. That is why I did not promote anything without proof. But if this one incident puts 4,000 votes of Rokeya Hall under question, then I myself will take a strong stand against it.”
