July Uprising Anniversary to Feature Concert and Drone Show at Dhaka University

To mark the first anniversary of the historic July 2024 mass uprising, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs will host a special concert and drone show on Monday, 14 July 2025, at the University of Dhaka.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry on Saturday, 12 July, the “Women’s Day Concert” will feature performances by artists Sayan, Elita Karim, and Parsa, along with the bands F Minor and Ela Lala.

At midnight on 14 July, a drone show titled “July: Bishad Sindhu” will be displayed above the Raju Memorial Sculpture at the university premises.

Earlier, on 8 July, the Economic Affairs Advisory Council held a meeting at the Secretariat, chaired by Saleh Uddin Ahmed, Interim Government’s Advisor on Science, Technology and Finance. Based on two proposals from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the Council approved plans for five drone shows and documentary screenings on LED displays across 63 districts and in Dhaka city under the “July Renaissance Celebrations” program. These screenings will depict the spirit and unfolding of the July revolution.

The government has decided to rent drones from both local and Chinese firms for the purpose.
