Workshop on Weathering Signals Wows JUST Students

A training workshop titled “Terrestrial and Marine Weathering Signals Recorded in East Asian Continental Margin” was held at the Central Gallery of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST), organized by the Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering (PME). The event brought together students from various departments and featured prominent national and international guests.
Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun, Treasurer of JUST, attended the event as the special guest. In his address to the students, he emphasized the value of such workshops: “Participating in this kind of workshop is extremely important. It enhances our knowledge and helps shape us as individuals. I believe the presence of this visiting team from China will further expand our students' intellectual horizons. Adding such training experiences to one’s CV makes it more enriched. The title of today’s workshop is particularly relevant for our country’s maritime region. I sincerely thank everyone involved in organizing this session. If you follow the workshop attentively, it will open new dimensions of knowledge.”
The keynote speaker at the event was Professor Dr. Sui Yang from Tongji University, Shanghai, China. He delivered an in-depth presentation on the theme of the workshop, sharing research insights and practical knowledge related to higher education.
Organized by the Geochemistry Laboratory of the PME department, the workshop also featured speeches from the event convener Professor Dr. H. M. Zakir Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Dr. Md. Amzad Hossain, and Chairman of the PME Department Dr. Mohammad Tofayel Ahmed.
The workshop was attended by Chairman of the Physics Department Dr. Md. Masum Billah, PME faculty members Dr. Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, Dr. Md. Minhaj Uddin Monir, Dr. Md. Aminul Islam, and teachers and students from various departments. The session was conducted by PME student Umme Ashrafi Ononna.
