Vivo is set to compete with Apple’s Vision Pro headset, despite lower-than-expected demand for the Vision Pro. At a recent event, Vivo announced plans to launch a mixed reality (MR) headset next year, as reported by GSM Arena.

A prototype of the headset is expected to be showcased in September or October. Vivo has revealed that the device will feature advancements that could surpass the Vision Pro.

However, by the time Vivo’s headset debuts, the Vision Pro will have been on the market for over 18 months, making it less surprising if an older product is outperformed.

Currently, a team of 500 members is working on Vivo’s MR headset project, underscoring the company’s commitment to this technology. While the low sales performance of Apple’s Vision Pro may seem discouraging, Vivo could make a significant impact if it manages to offer a similar or enhanced experience at a lower price point.

Vivo has stated that by late 2025, “high-quality prototype experiences” will be tested in various Chinese cities to evaluate the device’s functionality. However, the timeline for its official market launch remains uncertain.
