State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak expressed such optimism at an exchange meeting after visiting the factory of Symphony, one of the country's leading mobile manufacturers, at Ashulia in Savar on Saturday (April 16) afternoon. The state minister also said that regular inspections are being carried out under the direction of the Prime Minister to take care of the facilities of the local manufacturing companies. The people concerned in the sector are expecting good days in the future with this pre-budget visit. Zakaria Shahid, managing director of Edison Group, said the visit would play a significant role in fulfilling the work ethic of the Symphony and its family and meeting the targets set by the government. Appreciating the working environment at the Symphony factory on his way back to Dhaka after spending two days in his constituency on a public holiday, the ICT Minister said, "Coming here, I came to know that a fair price shop has been set up for about eight thousand workers apart from three and a half thousand Symphony families." From where they are able to buy daily products at a lower price than the market. In addition, the company now has 30 percent female employees. This means that they have met the target of women workers announced by the Prime Minister eight years ago. Also hired a person with special needs. According to the Bangladesh Mobile Phone Business Association (BMBA), 12-13 companies in the country have so far invested more than Tk 5 billion in mobile phone production. The production capacity of these companies is more than 40 million units. Pran RFL too is coming to the market after Fair Electronics, Walton, Edison, the big industrial groups of the country. At present, Walton alone has the capacity to produce more than 7 million units of headphones per year. Of this, smartphone production capacity is 1.2 million units. According to the Bangladesh Mobile Phone Business Association (BMBA), 12-13 companies in the country have so far invested more than Tk 5 billion in mobile phone production. The production capacity of these companies is more than 40 million units. Some are waiting for production with new investment. And factory and marketing combined employment of more than one lakh people. After Walton, another local brand Symphony has set up a mobile phone factory in the country. At present, the company is producing about 5 lakh units of phones per month. Symphony occupies 28 to 30 percent of the feature phone market in the country.
