IEB President Engineer Abdus Sabur won by a huge margin
The President of Engineers Institution, Bangladesh (IEB), Engineer Md. Abdus Sabur has been unofficially elected as the nominated candidate of Bangladesh Awami League with electoral symbol of his party- Boat. He has been elected from National Parliamentary Constituency Cumilla-1 (Daudkandi Titus) by getting 1 lakh 36 thousand 65 more votes than rival candidate with electoral symbol-Eagle.
Total number of voters in Cumilla-1 constituency is 4 lakh 63 thousand 520. Among them, Engineer Sabur got 1 lakh 59 thousand 738 votes. His nearest rival, independent candidate Barrister Naeem Hasan with Eagle symbol, got 23 thousand 673 votes.
Barrister Naeem Hasan, an independent candidate with the Eagle symbol, and Amir Hossain Bhuinya, a candidate nominated by Jatiya Party with the symbol plow, boycotted the election by holding a press conference at Hasanpur of Daudkandi upazila at 2:30 pm on Sunday (January 7).
