Bangladesh Police going digital

Apart from launching online GD, Bangladesh Police has started the process of bringing 12 activities online. These include the digital initiatives like distribution of duties to the police personnel on duty at the police station, lost and found database, live monitoring of bit policing and patrol team activities, auto inquest report maker, employee digital attendance with location tracking and photo matching mobile apps, evaluation of digital duty results, photo matching  in identifying corpses and so on. The services that will be digitized include GD investigation related investigation activities and GD related OB issuance, duty division of police personnel on duty in the police station, online GD web application and online GD mobile apps for citizens, leave and CC management, app based communication, lawsuit or GD. Single phonebook for identification of residence of concerned and all police officers. According to police headquarters, a letter in this regard was sent to the police superintendents of 64 districts, including all unit heads, in the first week of this month. The new online service has been named CDMS Plus. In order to start this activity at the police station level, each unit has been asked to create skilled manpower on its own initiative. Sources at the police headquarters further said that centrally, 3 to 5 additional SP level officers from ASIs of each district or unit have started undergoing TOT or Trainer of Training courses. They will train officers of other units and police station level of the unit. The concerned officials said that besides ensuring internet connection of those who will be involved in digital activities in the police station, instructions have also been given to set up a networking system through the unit heads. This will allow the unit head to do all the digital monitoring while sitting in his office. For this, online training has been arranged for the police superintendents of all districts, heads of different units and officers in charge of police stations online. At present, under the Criminal Data Management System (CDMSS), the members of Bangladesh Police are storing information and cases of all the arrested criminals online. The responsible officers are able to check all the previous records of the offender. Apart from apps across the country since last Wednesday, there has been an opportunity to do GD by visiting the GD.police.gov.bd website. However, the applicant must provide national identity card, mobile number and date of birth. Other processes including the cause of GD can be done after verification of identity in auto massage method on mobile. Earlier, various initiatives were taken for digital transformation of Bangladesh Police such as e-policing, introduction of body-cameras in traffic police to prevent crime.
