Two young Bangladeshis are set to represent the country in global discussions on digital-age employment, skills development, and youth leadership. Md. Toufiq Elahi and Tisha Khandakar have been selected as in-person delegates from Bangladesh for the prestigious World Bank Group Youth Summit 2026. The summit will be held on June 11–12 at the World Bank Group headquarters in Washington, D.C., United States.

The conference is widely regarded as one of the most important global platforms for youth development and policy dialogue, bringing together emerging young leaders, innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs from around the world. This year's theme is “FutureWorks: Designing Jobs for the Digital Age,” focusing on technology-driven economies, the future of work, skills development, and new employment opportunities for young people.

As in-person participation is highly limited, delegates are selected each year through a rigorous and competitive evaluation process from thousands of applicants worldwide. Through this highly selective process, Md. Toufiq Elahi and Tisha Khandakar secured the opportunity to represent Bangladesh. Their achievement is being viewed as a recognition of the global competence and competitive capabilities of the country's younger generation.

The summit will facilitate discussions among World Bank Group policymakers, international experts, development partners, and youth representatives on topics including development, education, employment, technological skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship. It will also provide young participants with a platform to present innovative ideas and practical solutions to global development challenges.

One of the key objectives of the World Bank Group Youth Summit is to equip young people with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to drive positive change in their respective countries. Another important goal is to increase youth participation in global development initiatives through direct engagement with the World Bank Group and other international institutions.

Every year, thousands of young people from across the globe participate in the summit. The program is supported by a strong alumni network of more than 10,000 members from over 170 countries, fostering knowledge exchange, collaboration, and international leadership development.

According to analysts, at a time when artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and technology-driven workplaces are rapidly transforming the global landscape, the participation of Bangladeshi youth on international platforms sends a positive message about the country's human resource potential and global engagement. The achievement of Md. Toufiq Elahi and Tisha Khandakar stands as another shining example of the leadership, talent, and promise of Bangladesh’s youth on the international stage.
