Sulfuric Acid Supply: Ministry Moves to Stabilize Industrial Input Imports
The Ministry of Commerce has decided to permit the import of sulfuric acid. This information was disclosed in a press release issued by the ministry on Tuesday, April 7.
According to the statement, in response to requests from industrial entrepreneurs and considering market stability, the Ministry of Commerce has taken the decision to allow the import of sulfuric acid.
It is mandatory to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) or license from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Department of Explosives before opening a Letter of Credit (LC) for importing this substance. Generally, permission is granted for the import of this acid as a raw material for fertilizer production and other industrial sectors.
Notably, sulfuric acid is a primary component in the production of phosphate fertilizer. If it is imported under false declarations or in the name of other acids (such as formic acid) beyond approval, the consignment is seized and legal action is taken.
