Digital financial systems have simplified the challenges of delivering donations to the right people, overcoming limitations of time, distance and reliability. Leveraging this convenience, bKash, a mobile financial service provider, is facilitating the easy delivery of Zakat or donations to thousands of disadvantaged people across the country through over 50 charitable and voluntary organisations.

In a press release on Wednesday, 25th February, bKash authorities stated that to make a donation, customers need to click on the ‘Donation’ icon in the bKash app and select the organisation they wish to donate to. They then need to enter their name, email and donation amount and submit.

Customers can also choose the "I don't want to share my identity" option to keep their identity private. After completing the donation process by entering their bKash PIN number, customers will receive an acknowledgement stating "Your donation has been successful".

Notably, donations can be made directly to various organisations throughout the year via bKash. Prominent among these are As-Sunnah Foundation, Mastul Foundation, Bangladesh Thalassemia Foundation, Anjuman Mufidul Islam, Mojar School, Obhijatrik Foundation, JAAGO Foundation, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, Centre for Zakat Management, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Quantum Foundation, ICDDR,B, UNICEF, World Food Programme, National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh, Dunation Foundation Trust and Prothom Alo Trust. In addition, customers can also send Zakat and donations through the merchant accounts of various agencies and organisations.
