Mymensingh to Get 7-Storey Digital Information Complex
Construction of a seven-storey Divisional Information Complex in Mymensingh has officially begun, with a Tk 193 million contract awarded for the project. The foundation stone was laid on April 4 at Shikarirkanda Chattarpur, near the Dhaka–Mymensingh highway.
The complex, to be completed within 18 months, will include internet and cyber cafés, digital archives, a cineplex, information kiosks, and digital laboratories, aiming to enhance access to digital services at the regional level.
State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yaser Khan Chowdhury inaugurated the project. He was accompanied by Information Secretary Mahbuba Farzana and Director General of the Department of Mass Communication Md. Abdul Jalil.
The State Minister said the government plans to establish similar facilities in all 64 districts, with work already underway in 26 districts. He also hinted at future expansion to the upazila level, subject to approval.
Emphasising accountability, he warned against corruption and urged the contractor to ensure quality work. He also called on media professionals to uphold accuracy and avoid misinformation.
