bKash Rolls Out Ramadan Remittance Rewards Campaign
On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, bKash has launched a special remittance campaign for expatriates and their families in Bangladesh, effective from Sunday, 1 March. The initiative, conducted jointly with international money transfer operators (MTOs), offers electronic devices, discount coupons, cashback, and bonus benefits for both remittance senders and recipients.
Expatriates sending remittances to bKash through designated MTOs from countries including the United Kingdom, the United States, Malaysia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Italy, and the United Arab Emirates will have the opportunity to win an iPhone 17, laptops, Apple Watches, tablets, cashback on round-trip tickets, and various bonus amounts.
Remittances sent from Saudi Arabia through Barq (barq) and from the United Kingdom through ACE (ACE) will incur no transfer fee. Moreover, expatriates in the United Kingdom will have the opportunity to win a weekly iPhone 17. In the United Arab Emirates, users of e& money (e& money) and botim (botim) will have the chance to win up to 25,000 dirhams upon sending remittances of specified amounts. In Malaysia, Merchantrade Money (Merchantrade Money) is offering up to 5,000 ringgit in cashback along with a 50 percent discount on card charges. Remittances sent from Singapore via Hometown (Hometown) will provide ticket cashback of up to 200 SGD and a weekly cashback of 50 SGD. Users of GME (GME) in South Korea will have the opportunity to win laptops and wearable devices. Additionally, remittances sent from the United States, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, and other countries through Taptap Send (Taptap Send) using the promo code RMDN26 will qualify for specified bonuses.
Remittance recipients in Bangladesh are also entitled to multiple incentives. Under the campaign, which will continue until 18 March 2026, the customer receiving the highest remittance amount each month will win a mega electronic device coupon worth 100,000 taka, subject to receiving at least 40,000 taka per month (excluding the government’s 2.5 percent incentive). Each week, the top five recipients will receive coupons worth 25,000, 20,000, 15,000, 10,000, and 5,000 taka respectively, with a minimum weekly eligibility of 10,000 taka. Furthermore, customers receiving at least 10,000 taka in remittances daily will receive a guaranteed discount coupon worth 300 taka.
Mega and weekly coupons can be used at various electronics showrooms including Transcom, Sony, Singer, Haier, Hisense, and Walton. Daily coupons are redeemable at selected outlets of Agora, Meena Bazar, Otobi, Hatil, Best Buy, and Bengal Meat.
Currently, instant remittances can be sent to bKash accounts from more than 170 countries through 135 MTOs. The remitted funds are settled through 27 leading commercial banks and credited promptly to customers’ accounts, including a government incentive of 25 taka per 1,000 taka. Customers in Bangladesh can cash out from nearly 2,500 ATM booths by using the app or dialing *247#, at a charge of only 7 taka per 1,000 taka. In addition to cashing out, customers can pay utility bills, recharge mobile phones, pay education and government fees, and make payments for zakat, fitra, and donations directly from their accounts.
Sector stakeholders believe that these multifaceted incentives throughout Ramadan will further accelerate the digital flow of expatriate income.
