DU Distinction: Dhaka University Honors Researchers for Academic Excellence
In recognition of outstanding research and intellectual contributions, the University of Dhaka has honored nearly 300 distinguished faculty members and researchers from various departments and institutes.
The awards were presented during the DU Research Excellence Recognition 2025 ceremony held on Friday, May 2, at the university’s Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban.
Presided over by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, the event featured eminent economist and Planning Ministry advisor Professor Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud as the chief guest. The ceremony was conducted in two sessions.
In the first session, titled "The Importance of Investment in Higher Education," a keynote paper was presented by Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Sayma Haque Bidisha.
Chaired by Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, the session also included remarks from Professor Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque, President of the Bangla Academy; Kamran T. Rahman, President of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI); Ms. Faiza Ahad, representative of the Asian Development Bank; and World Bank education specialist Professor Dr. Asaduzzaman. The panelists emphasized the role of higher education in sustainable growth and the critical need for investment in academia.
