Visa and MetLife Bangladesh Sign Comprehensive Insurance Coverage Agreement
Visa has signed an agreement with MetLife Bangladesh to ensure comprehensive insurance coverage for its employees and their dependent family members in Bangladesh. Under this initiative, Visa employees will receive financial protection in cases of accident, disability, and death. In addition, their dependents will enjoy in-patient, out-patient, and maternity medical coverage benefits.
The agreement was signed on behalf of their respective organizations by Sabbir Ahmed, Country Manager of Visa for Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan, and Ala Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh.
According to the two organizations, insurance coverage plays a significant role in enhancing employees’ sense of security and trust in their employer. A recent survey conducted under the ‘Employment Benefits Trends Study (EBTS)’ revealed that more than 56 percent of employees identified financial concerns as a cause of reduced productivity. Additionally, 41 percent of employees associated financial stress with mental health challenges, while 78 percent stated that wellness-related benefits, such as insurance and mental health support, increase their loyalty to their organization.
Visa selected MetLife to provide insurance services for its employees due to the insurer’s consistent success in claims settlement, customized insurance solutions, modern dashboard facilities, cashless out-patient and ambulance services, and a fast and hassle-free claims payment process.
Sabbir Ahmed, Country Manager of Visa for Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan, said that maintaining leadership in the digital payments sector requires employees to remain prepared and focused. Comprehensive insurance coverage ensures their financial security and helps enhance professional concentration and innovative capabilities.
Ala Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh, stated that standing beside organizations in building a safe and caring work environment for employees is part of their commitment. The partnership with Visa reflects a joint effort to deliver robust insurance solutions that promote employee welfare.
As a global network providing secure digital payment services in more than 200 countries and territories, Visa connects individuals and businesses to the global economy. On the other hand, MetLife Bangladesh provides insurance protection to nearly one million individual customers and more than 900 organizations in Bangladesh. The company has earned top recognition at the ‘IDRA Insurance Excellence Award 2025,’ conferred by the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA), based on business leadership, service quality, corporate governance, claims settlement, and regulatory compliance.
