BanglaBiz Brings Bangladesh’s Business Services to One Portal
BanglaBiz, a new central digital portal consolidating the services and investment-related information of Bangladesh’s investment promotion agencies, has been officially launched. The initiative is a joint effort of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The BanglaBiz portal integrates the One Stop Service (OSS) portals of BIDA, the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA), and the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC). Additionally, the homepage of BanglaBiz provides access to the Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) website.
The initiative was approved in April this year during a meeting of BIDA’s governing body, chaired by the Chief Adviser. JICA has provided financial and technical support for the design, development, and implementation of BanglaBiz.
Highlighting the significance of the project, Tomohide Ichiguchi, Chief Representative of JICA Bangladesh Office, said, “Digital transformation is not just about technological advancement but a strategic shift that is crucial for ensuring inclusive development. BanglaBiz is a tangible reflection of this vision, playing a pivotal role in empowering investors and enhancing institutional capacity.”
BIDA Executive Chairman Ashiq Chowdhury emphasized the long-standing demand for a unified investment portal. “For years, both domestic and foreign businesses have sought a single-entry platform for investment. BanglaBiz is the realization of that vision. It is designed to enable investors to access all necessary services and information required to start and operate a business in Bangladesh through one entry point. We believe this will also foster healthy competition among service-providing agencies to deliver higher quality services.”
Future versions of BanglaBiz aim to transform it into a full-fledged Investor Single Window Platform (ISWP), including a Business Starter Package, BanglaBiz ID (BBID), and fully digital work permits and security clearance services. The platform will ensure effective interconnection among various ministries and agencies of the government.
As the world’s largest bilateral development agency, JICA has long been playing a leading role in fostering private sector development in Bangladesh. BanglaBiz continues that effort, aiming to support inclusive economic growth, attract quality investments, and deliver modern, citizen-friendly services.
