Visa Honors 17 Institutions for Advancing Bangladesh’s Digital Economy
In recognition of their contributions to the growth of Bangladesh's digital economy, Visa, the global digital payments platform, honored 17 institutions from the banking, fintech, and retail sectors with 30 awards. The honors were presented during the Visa Leadership Conclave Bangladesh 2025, held on Monday, August 4, at the Sheraton Hotel in Dhaka.
Covering the period from July 2024 to June 2025, the awards were distributed across categories including fintech, merchant acceptance, e-commerce, cross-border payments, Visa debit and credit card operations, and commercial cards.
The event brought together representatives from more than 60 organizations, including banks, mobile financial services (MFS) providers, fintech firms, government agencies, international development organizations, agri-tech enterprises, diplomatic missions, aviation e-commerce, and retail businesses.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur delivered the keynote address as chief guest and handed out the awards to recipients. The program opened with remarks from Visa’s Country Manager for Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan, Sabbir Ahmed. Ramakrishnan Gopalan, Head of Product for Visa South Asia, showcased the company’s latest offerings.
“Bangladesh’s commercial future relies on digital technology,” said Sabbir Ahmed. “Our main goal is to create a seamless and secure cashless economy through the participation of our partners. Together with them, we are working to build a more resilient economic future as part of Bangladesh’s digital transformation journey.”
