JAAGO Foundation and TikTok Empower Over 100,000 Youths on Online Safety

JAAGO Foundation, in collaboration with social media platform TikTok, has successfully raised awareness about online safety and responsible digital behavior among more than 100,000 young individuals across the country through its "Shabdhaney Online" initiative.

The campaign first launched in 2022, and by late 2024, it entered its third phase with a "Youth Ambassador Training Camp." A total of 128 youth ambassadors from all 64 districts participated in this program, receiving training on online safety, TikTok’s safety tools, and their roles as ambassadors. Equipped with this knowledge, the ambassadors were then tasked with spreading awareness in their respective communities.

Following the training, youth ambassadors conducted awareness sessions across the country, with each session engaging approximately 30 young participants. These sessions covered crucial topics such as online threats, safe digital practices, and cyber security. The initiative played a vital role in educating individuals at the grassroots level about online safety.

Another significant part of the campaign was the "Youth Ambassador Campus Activation" program. As part of this initiative, youth ambassadors organized workshops in 256 educational institutions nationwide. Through these workshops, nearly 100,000 students gained insights into various aspects of online security.

After the campus activation phase, "Divisional Feedback Sessions" were conducted across all eight divisions. These sessions allowed youth ambassadors to share their experiences, challenges, and successes while discussing the overall impact of the campaign and planning future initiatives.

The campaign culminated in the "National Online Safety Dialogue" held in Dhaka, where government representatives, researchers, content creators, IT experts, and youth ambassadors gathered to discuss online security challenges, digital safety awareness, and potential future strategies.

Mossaddek Hossain, Project Manager of the "Shabdhaney Online" campaign, stated: "The campaign proves that young people can take the lead in driving digital security changes. Through collective efforts, we are working towards creating a safer internet for the youth of Bangladesh."

Additionally, JAAGO Foundation and TikTok have undertaken various other initiatives to promote online safety, including press releases, opinion articles, SBCC content, and awareness posts on multiple social platforms. These efforts have significantly contributed to educating the general public on online security and cyber threats.
