Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has launched a one-stop citizen service mobile and web application 'Amader Chattogram' to build Chattogram as a smart, technology-driven, and accountable city. Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) financed the project from its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) sector. Vento Tech developed the technical platform.

On July 18, Saturday, CCC Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain inaugurated the app at a function organized at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), Chattogram Centre auditorium. In his inaugural address, Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said, "This is a glorious and milestone initiative in the history of Chattogram City Corporation. In this technology-driven era, delivering civic services to the doorstep is an essential demand of the time. 'Amader Chattogram' is not just an app, it is a digital bridge between citizens and the City Corporation."

He said, "Citizens can now directly inform the City Corporation from home about problems in 10 categories including roads, waterlogging, mosquito menace, garbage, street lights, and drains along with pictures and locations. The current status of the complaint, whether it is under process or resolved, can also be tracked live."

"Various citizen services including emergency services, contact with the mayor, holding tax, and trade license will be available through the app. Besides, it will be possible to quickly identify what kind of problems are prevailing in which areas through officer dashboards, ward-based heat maps, and automated ticketing systems, the mayor added. This will increase administrative efficiency and accountability." He urged city dwellers to download 'Amader Chattogram' app from Google Play Store and App Store to play an active role in keeping the city clean and livable.

Presiding over the function, CCC Chief Executive Officer (Acting) and Secretary Mohammad Ashraful Amin said, "The journey of this app has started as a result of the mayor's far-sighted thinking. In addition to complaints, citizens can also provide development-related suggestions, infrastructure construction proposals, and opinions on various issues through the app. A polling system has also been integrated into it to receive citizen feedback."

He informed that information and online application facilities for various services including trade license, holding tax, and ward office certificates will be added to the app step by step. In the future, information of officials-employees and hospital information will also be included.

Ashraful Amin said, "In the future, Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology-based cameras will be integrated, which will automatically detect civic problems like garbage lying on the roadside for a long time or waterlogging and send them as complaints to the City Corporation system. There is also a plan to fully launch most services including holding tax and trade license online within the next two months."

He further stated that no money was spent from CCC's own fund to build this state-of-the-art digital platform; the project was implemented with funding from the CSR fund of Eastern Bank Limited.

Chattogram WASA Managing Director Engineer Selim Md. Jahangir Alam, DIG Chattogram Range Md. Moniruzzaman, Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali, politician Abul Hashem Bakkar, divisional heads of CCC, senior officials of various public and private organizations, political leaders, technologists, and civil society representatives were present at the event.
