Allegation of Misinformation Against State Minister Anindya Islam Amit on Facebook
An allegation has been raised regarding the spread of misinformation on Facebook using the name of State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit. A General Diary (GD) has been filed at Ramna Model Police Station in the capital, stating that a “photocard” being circulated from a Facebook group named “Gen Z (FS Gaming)” using the minister’s photo is fake.
The GD was filed on Sunday, April 19, in the afternoon by the Private Secretary (Deputy Secretary) of the State Minister, Md. Shahidul Islam.
According to the statement made in the GD on behalf of the minister, it was written: “Last night I visited at least 10 fuel stations. I did not notice any crowd or fuel shortage anywhere.”
However, in the GD application, the Private Secretary clarified that the State Minister did not visit any fuel stations last night and did not make any such statement anywhere. It was further mentioned that he has been working tirelessly to address the global impact of the energy crisis. Just yesterday afternoon, he returned to Dhaka after inspecting various power and energy infrastructure facilities in Chattogram and Matarbari.
The GD states that false information is being deliberately spread to damage the image of the State Minister and to undermine the success of the country’s energy sector. It has been demanded that those involved in spreading this misinformation be identified and brought under the law swiftly.
