In a surprise for players and fans, U.S.-based game developer and publisher Panic has announced that Playdate Season Three will arrive later this year. Following the launch of Season One alongside the console in 2022, it took three years for Season Two to be released. However, the comparatively quick arrival of Season Three has caught players off guard.

In an announcement video, Playdate lead Greg Maletic stated that Season Three will be released during the “holiday season” (October–December). However, Panic has not yet disclosed how many games will be included or the pricing. Season One featured 24 games (two per week over 12 weeks) and was offered at no cost. Although Season Two had half the number of games (plus Blippo Plus), it maintained strong quality. Season Two was priced at $39.

Playdate is a portable gaming device developed by Panic, known for its distinctive yellow body and crank wheel. Each season introduces a new set of games. While the first season’s games were free, subsequent seasons require payment. The device is available in limited quantities in the market, and due to high demand, it remains difficult to obtain.

Additionally, Panic has announced that the long-awaited game Office Chair Curling is now available for purchase on Playdate and Steam with online cross-play support. Until the arrival of Season Three, players now have the opportunity to spend time with this newly released game.
