Musk’s xAI Mounts Monopoly Lawsuit Against Apple and OpenAI

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company xAI has filed a lawsuit against Apple and OpenAI in a federal court in Texas, USA. The complaint alleges that the two companies are stifling competition in the AI sector to maintain their monopoly. Reuters reported the development.

According to xAI, an exclusive agreement between Apple and OpenAI has led to the underrepresentation of the X app and the Grok app on the App Store. The lawsuit seeks several billion dollars in damages. On social media, Musk wrote: “Despite having an average 4.9 rating with millions of reviews, Apple is not featuring Grok in any list.”

Antitrust experts suggest that this lawsuit may present the U.S. courts with the first opportunity to rule on monopoly practices within the AI market. They also note that the case could influence the future framework of competition policy in the AI industry.
