Google’s Gemini Tops 350 Million Monthly Users but Still Trails ChatGPT and Meta AI

Google’s generative‑AI chatbot “Gemini” reached roughly 350 million monthly active users worldwide by March 2025, according to internal figures unsealed this week in the company’s ongoing U.S. antitrust trial, TechCrunch reported.
The statistics, first highlighted by The Information, show dramatic growth: Gemini counted only 9 million daily users in October 2024, yet by March that figure had surged to about 35 million daily—fueling its monthly total. Google attributes the rise to deep integrations introduced over the past year in Samsung Galaxy smartphones, Google Workspace apps and the Chrome browser.
Despite the momentum, Gemini still lags key rivals. Google’s court filing states that OpenAI’s ChatGPT drew close to 600 million monthly users during the same period, while Meta AI approached 500 million.
The data underscore the intensifying race among U.S. tech giants to dominate consumer generative‑AI services as they embed large‑language‑model assistants into phones, productivity suites and search products.
