Trump Confirms Ongoing Talks with Four Groups for TikTok Sale

The U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that his administration was in discussions with four different groups regarding the sale of the Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok, and that all of them were viable options. The report was published by Reuters.

A law requiring TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to either sell the platform or face a ban in the United States came into effect on January 19, citing national security concerns. However, after assuming office on January 20, Trump issued an executive order delaying the enforcement of the law for 75 days.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump said, “It could happen.” He further added, “We are in discussions with four different groups, and many are interested in buying it... all four are good groups.”

TikTok and ByteDance have not immediately responded to Reuters for comments on the matter.

Amid the ongoing situation, several potential buyers have expressed interest in acquiring TikTok. Among them is former Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt. Analysts estimate that this rapidly growing business could be valued at up to $50 billion.
