Google Sets Price for Video-Generating AI Model Veo 2

Google has announced the pricing for its AI-powered video generation model, Veo 2, which was unveiled last December. According to TechCrunch, using Veo 2 will cost $0.50 per second, amounting to $30 per minute or up to $1,800 per hour.
John Barron, a researcher at Google DeepMind, compared the pricing to Hollywood standards, noting, “The production budget for Marvel’s 'Avengers: Endgame' was around $356 million, roughly translating to $32,000 per second.” While Veo 2 isn’t yet capable of producing full-length blockbusters, Google confirmed that it can generate videos lasting two minutes or longer.
The pricing strategy has sparked comparisons with OpenAI’s Sora model, which was recently made available to ChatGPT Pro subscribers. Access to Sora requires a $200 monthly subscription fee.
