TikTok Tensions: Censorship Concerns and Content Controversies

Following the reinstatement of TikTok after its ban by the Biden administration due to national security concerns, many U.S. users are reporting difficulties in expressing themselves freely on the app. The platform, which was reactivated under a Trump executive order, is facing criticism for changes in its operations.

Users claim that there has been a decrease in live streams on TikTok, and numerous posts or comments are being removed for alleged community guideline violations—content that was previously approved. Notably, comments such as “Free Palestine” and “Free Louigi” have been flagged and taken down.

TikTok asserts that there have been no changes to its policies or algorithms. The company stated, “We are working to restore services in the U.S. and there may be some temporary instability.”

Meanwhile, on Monday, Trump signed an executive order promising to end censorship on social media platforms.

TikTok user and content creator Pat Lola shared that a satirical video he made, referencing Elon Musk, was flagged as false information and its sharing was limited.

Additionally, another user reported facing difficulties when attempting to post a video critical of Trump.
