Scout Motors’ Satellite-Enabled SUVs and EVs

Ahead of this year’s CES, Volkswagen’s subsidiary Scout Motors has made an exciting announcement regarding their future EV (electric vehicle) models. The company revealed that their upcoming Traveler SUV and Terra pickup trucks will feature built-in satellite connectivity. The announcement was reported by TechCrunch.
Details regarding the hardware provider or service partner for the satellite connectivity have not yet been disclosed. However, Scout Motors has confirmed that these vehicles will come pre-wired from the factory. The connectivity system is designed to offer “wide-ranging functionality to help drivers and passengers stay connected within and around their vehicles.”
Scout Motors had unveiled their first two vehicles in October last year, but the models are not expected to hit the market until 2027. Given the timeline, it is unsurprising that the company has refrained from revealing all specifics at this stage.
These vehicles are expected to be showcased at the CES show over the weekend. Additionally, Scout Motors will unveil its new “Community UX” interface at CES. This system is built on software co-developed with Rivian in collaboration with Volkswagen.
