Facebook-Google has removed 17 videos of Murad
After receiving the court order, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has so far been able to remove 17 videos by identifying 272 audio-videos of former Minister of State for Information Murad Hasan's indecent speeches.
BTRC lawyer Khandaker Reza E Rakib said on Wednesday that the BTRC started work after receiving a court order. In the meantime, Facebook has identified 15 sites and removed them, and Google has deleted two. In addition, Facebook has identified 200 more sites that spread such speeches. Which they themselves have begun the process of closing.
The lawyer also said that as the issues are very technical, these organizations are checking and sorting everything to remove the video and audio.
Earlier on Tuesday, Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Syed Saidul Haque Sumon brought the videos before the court for removal.
In court, he sought directions to remove the audio-video content of Murad Hasan's obscene phone conversation from social media. In this context, the High Court bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Mostafizur Rahman verbally ordered the removal of the videos.
