Digital Land Service wins the United Nations Public Service Award
In recognition of all other land service digitization activities including e-namjari, Bangladesh won the United Nations Public Service Award 2020 for the first time in the category of ‘Developing transparent and accountable public institutions. On Monday, December 13, 2021. Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury received the Award on behalf of the Land Ministry.
Land Secretary Md Mostafizur Rahman accompanied the Minister while receiving the award at the United Nations Public Service Awards ceremony at the Jumeirah Conference Center in at 10:30 am local time in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
While responding after receiving the award, the land minister said the UN award was a joint achievement of the country and the nation under the leadership of the Prime Minister. The e-namzari system has been implemented under the special initiative of 'Digital Bangladesh' of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Saifuzzaman Chowdhury added at the event, jointly organized by the United Arab Emirates and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, "The United Nations Public Service Award will encourage Bangladesh to complete its initiative to automate the entire land management process."
In this context, e-Namjari is playing an important role in providing easy service to land service recipients, more inclusion of women and persons with disabilities in land management, implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals of Bangladesh, and above all in the implementation of Vision 2041 adopted by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The awards ceremony will be held from 13 to 15 December 2021 under the theme 'Innovating the Future Public Service: New Government Models for a New Era to Reach the Sustainable Development Goals'. Part of the United Nations Public Service Forum.
The meeting was attended by UAE Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Development and Future Affairs Ohud Al Rumi, UN Under-Secretary-General for Management, Policy, Strategy and Compliance Katherine Pollard, Representatives of the private sector and international and regional organizations and award-winning entrepreneurs were present at the event.
It can be noted that on June 16, 2020, the United Nations officially announced the name of the winner of the United Nations Public Service Award-2020. The Ministry of Land of Bangladesh won the prestigious United Nations Public Service Award-2020 (United Nations Public Service Award 2020) in the category of 'Developing Transparent and Accountable Public Institutions'.
At the United Nations Public Service Day virtual event on June 23 last year, UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Liu Jenmin congratulated the winning countries, including Bangladesh, for winning the UN Public Service Award-2020. The United Nations Public Service Forum and Public Service Awards were scheduled to be held in Busan, South Korea in 2020, but were postponed by the United Nations until further notice in the wake of the global COVID-19 pandemic. This year, in 2021, the United Nations hosted the 2020 and 2021 United Nations Public Service Awards in Dubai simultaneously. This time the award was given to 17 initiatives from 15 countries for these two years.
