Trump Token Trading Takes Off
The cryptocurrency token $WLFI, launched under the Trump family’s initiative World Liberty Financial, officially began trading on Monday. The organization announced that the decision to make the tokens tradable was finalized in July following a vote by investors, according to Reuters.
Leading global cryptocurrency exchanges, including Binance, OKX, and Bybit, started facilitating transactions of the token from Monday. Data from CoinGecko showed that the token’s price stood at $0.3115 on its opening day.
Since the launch of World Liberty, the Trump family has reportedly earned nearly $500 million, Reuters reported.
Critics, however, have raised concerns that the Trump family’s involvement in both shaping cryptocurrency regulations and investing in digital currency could present a conflict of interest.
The White House clarified that Trump’s assets are held in a trust overseen by his children, stating that “there is no conflict of interest.”
